During all my school years I enjoyed studying the illustrations before reading the text. Illustrations enabled me to visually understand and appreciate the subject. I also enjoyed revisiting the illustrations and drawing them after going through their descriptions that gave me a more in depth understanding of the topic.

Later, as a health care professional, I used illustrations to show patients what exactly was going on with their condition. It was there that I learned the true meaning of “a picture says a thousand words”. I realized that through pairing appropriate and targeted visuals with textual or verbal information, it is possible to make complicated subjects to become simple and understandable. As an art and science lover, my goal is to use my skills to make science more accessible to a range of audience.
